To all Cosplayers and Costume enthusiasts,
As we draw closer to the Con, I would like to point out an important detail to anyone who is participating in the costume contest or will be Cosplaying just for fun. Due to the fact that we are hosting the Con on a school campus and due to the fact that the facility is still open to the public, we will be establishing the NO WEAPONS ALLOWED RULE. This basically includes anything that could resemble to actual weapons, so NO Tommy Guns, NO Knifes, NO Nerf Guns, NO bats with nails, and for those who were at the Con last year, NO CONFETTI CANNONS! I know the rule stinks especially when it’s year of the Mafia, but we don’t want the con to stop running because of a misunderstanding.
HOWEVER, I know some costumes may have an exception to the rule, for example, Kingdom Hearts Key Blades, the Halo Energy Swords, Wizard Staffs, etc. If you have something you wish to cosplay with but may be questionable, please ask us in advance.
4 weeks until Plattecon XVII!
To all individuals looking for hotel rooms or have booked a room for Plattecon,
Some people may have noticed that there is an issue getting the Plattecon block for the staying in at the Country Inn Suites for the weekend and that it only works for Friday. Apparently there is an event that is going on elsewhere on campus to where the majority of the hotel has been booked for that Saturday and Sunday and therefore there were only a handful of rooms available and they are King beds only. The other issue is somewhere along the line the block was only made for Friday and not Saturday and Sunday so if some have already booked a room for the Country Inn Suites, I would call and double check that you are receiving the block for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I learned about the block issue this weekend and I’m hoping I can try to work with the hotel to give people who have managed to successfully book a room at the Country Inn Suites the full weekend block instead of just Friday.
For those who have NOT booked a hotel room yet, I would suggest that you look for rooms at the Super 8 motel or the Mound Inn. I apologize for any inconveniences for booking your hotel rooms but again, I would double check your rooms to make sure you have the block for the full weekend and not just Friday, even if you are not staying at the Country Inn Suites.
Only 33 more days until Plattecon 27!
As we draw closer to Plattecon XXVII, we know that there are people that have questions or concerns since the site seems to not be fully up to date. We are still doing some updates which we will hopefully have done soon, including the Artists page. The registration and the Lodging pages should now be up to date to where people can register and book rooms in the hotels to have place to stay. I appreciate everyone’s patience and feel free to contact me if you have additional questions or concerns. You can also follow us on our Facebook page where we will also keep people up to date .

Block booking has been arranged for Country Inn & Suites, Mound View Inn and for Super 8 Motel. All of these places are in Platteville and have great workers that can help direct you, so you should have no trouble getting to the convention. They are clean and comfortable and they are offering a discount to PlatteCon XXVI attendees! Just ask about the PlatteCon special rate when you call to make your room reservation.
Reserve your rooms before February 1, 2013 to snag that room! These hotels can only guarantee rooms at the reduced rate until one month before the convention.
Also for the discounted rate we will need 10 rooms reserved in each hotel. Unfortunately, without the 10 rooms the hotel will go back to the regular price. Each hotel can always go over 10 rooms however.
